Takes toooooo long!

It just took way too long and my hair looked butchered when I was done. I'd rather go to a place down the road and pay a few bucks more. It's cheap but you get what you pay for.

I went in with medium brown hair and wanted to get it dyed blonde. I asked for blonde, and after 3 hours (Which it has NEVER taken that long to do my hair. Even when other processes were more complex, hair stylists were quicker.) I came out with blonde hair on the top, and then it went back to my brown hair going down to the ends. Now I tried to be polite, and I called back in asking if I could get it redone. They said yes, and they did not make me pay the second time. I went in the second time and again asked for a darker blonde. This time I came out with red. I know they are students, but for supposedly being the "top cosmetology school," I would hate to see the others.

The Aveda Institute was recommended to me by a few friends and family members. I was absolutely not impressed with my experience and I will not be going back. I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. I proceeded to the check-in area and sat down to wait for my name to be called. By the time I sat down, it was just about time for my appointment to begin. I waited for half an hour before I went back up to the desk to ask how long the wait would be. I waited for another 20 minutes and my stylist finally came to get me. The atmosphere was strange, to say the least. There were stylist-students sitting around everywhere without clients, doing each other's hair and gossiping. I felt as if there was little to no supervision of the students, but chalked it up to an informal atmosphere. My stylist kept leaving me in the chair, saying that she had to "go do something." At one point, someone in a giant bear suit came into the room to congratulate a graduating student with a dance and a giant bunch of balloons. My stylist seemed distracted, distant, and listless as she started to trim my hair. At this point, I started to become a bit nervous. At first, it seemed as if the stylist was following my simple instructions. She trimmed my hair according to my request. Then, it came time to trim my bangs. I was very specific about how I wanted them trimmed. Straight across the middle, tapering to slightly longer sections on each side. First, I got a sort of "stair step" look. Not tapered at all. I asked for a correction. She told me to close my eyes, and I heard a "zzzzzzzip." Yikes. Now my bangs were no longer bangs, but a sort of bowl-cut on one side. I asked for a correction. At this point, my remaining bangs were too short and totally uneven. I kept looking around for an instructor, as I was told that the students' work was always checked by a supervisor. No instructor ever showed up. I ended up leaving the salon with a bad haircut. I'll never go back.
